Somos First-Gen is 100% community led. We value the skills and passions that members in the community hold. We currently have opportunities for anyone who would like to get involved. View some of the opportunities below!

  • Somos First-Gen Ambassador

    As a Somos First-Gen ambassador, you will help spread the word about the support group to students and community members. Being an ambassador includes:

    • Visiting local high schools and colleges and providing a short presentation that gives all the details about Somos First-Gen

    • Connecting with students and encouraging them to attend support group meetings

    • Connecting with community members that could potentially partner with Somos First-Gen

  • Somos First-Gen Organizer

    As an organizer for Somos First-Gen, you will be helping plan and execute all the Somos First-Gen events and meetings. Being an organizer includes:

    • Attending the Somos First-Gen team meetings to plan events with the other organizers

    • Attend Somos First-Gen events and meetings and help with the set up and clean up

    • Make connections with students

    • Connect with community members and organizations that are interested in partnering with Somos First-Gen

  • Guest Speaker

    Somos First-Gen is what it is because of our amazing guest speakers that share their knowledge and skills with the group! As a guest speaker at a support group meeting, you can share your First-Gen story with students or you can give a presentation over something that you're passionate and knowledgeable about that will be beneficial to first-gen students! Being a guest speaker can include:

    • Preparing a talk/presentation/workshop for a Somos First-Gen support group meeting

    • Communicating with the Somos First-Gen team your availability and preferences before the scheduled support group meeting date

    • Sharing your first-gen story with students at a support group meeting

  • Donor

    As a donor, you will be supporting the purpose of Somos First-Gen through financial and/or material assistance.
